About This Law:

The Interim Constitution of Southern Sudan, 2005 served as the supreme law of Southern Sudan during the interim period following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. It established the structure and powers of the Government of Southern Sudan and its institutions. The Constitution guaranteed fundamental rights, freedoms, and equality before the law. It promoted democracy, rule of law, decentralization, and accountability in governance. The Constitution remained in force until it was replaced upon independence in 2011.
